Appraising the Cass Review – Commitments

This page is the fallback venue for the commitment manifest of Eden Openly’s structured meta-appraisal of the Cass Review (2024) and its commissioned systematic reviews.

The primary venue is the public repository github.com/EdenOpenly/cass-commitments. Each entry in its manifest records the SHA-256 of a record that is fixed before the outcome it constrains exists, together with the SHA-256 of the manifest before that entry. Each manifest state is timestamped with OpenTimestamps, which anchors it in the Bitcoin blockchain. The committed records themselves are published later. A commitment is not a publication.

When this page is used. If the repository cannot be reached when a commitment falls due, the manifest and its new timestamp proofs are posted here instead, in a dated section below. The next entry in the repository then carries their hash, which joins the two venues into one chain.

How to verify an entry. Take the first n lines of manifest.jsonl (each line ends in a newline), save them as a file, and check manifest-NNNNNN.ots against that file with an OpenTimestamps client and your own Bitcoin node.

Snapshots. Each release of the repository is archived on Zenodo with its own DOI, and saved in Software Heritage.
